China Jade Rockville: Authentic Cantonese and Szechuan Cuisine in Derwood

So good and its hard to find authentic home-style Chinese food like this! I had been looking for a restaurant that made Chinese style thin cut potatoes and this restaurant had it!!!! Love the portion sizes as well btw the vegetable dishes are so underrated!

China Jade was once our go-to destination for authentic Cantonese cuisine before the pandemic, often frequented weekly or with regular takeout orders. After years away, I approached our return visit with cautious optimism, wondering if the restaurant still upheld its renowned quality. By the end of the meal, my worries proved unwarranted. Despite changes in chefs and management, China Jade continues to deliver exceptional, authentic Cantonese dishes. We began with the **Cold Wooden Ear Mushroom Salad**, a refreshing starter with a touch of heat from spicy diced peppers. While the mushrooms were slightly overcooked and a bit firm, the flavors remained vibrant and satisfying. Next came the **House Special Gul-Fei Chicken**, a signature dish I had fond memories of. The chicken now had a darker hue compared to its pre-pandemic golden appearance, which initially made me skeptical. However, my doubts vanished with the first bite—the chicken was tender, flavorful, and complemented perfectly by the salty ginger and green onion sauce. It’s as mouthwatering as ever and truly a standout dish. The **Fish Fillet with XO Sauce**, a longtime favorite, was the highlight of the meal. It arrived just as I remembered—same presentation, same exquisite flavor. The fish was perfectly cooked, with the XO sauce adding layers of umami richness that never fail to impress. We also enjoyed the **Sautéed Lobster with Ginger and Green Onions** and the **Beef and Egg Over Rice**, both of which met the high standards we had come to expect from China Jade. The lobster was fresh and aromatic, while the beef dish offered a comforting, hearty finish to our meal. Overall, I was immensely relieved and delighted to find that China Jade has not lost its touch. This visit reaffirmed its place as a reliable destination for authentic Cantonese cuisine. I will undoubtedly return soon to savor more of their remarkable dishes.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in this area. They offer a delightful mix of authentic Szechuan cuisine, with a touch of Cantonese dishes, all complemented by good service and prices that truly offer value for money. Highly recommended!

Nice Chinese restaurant. Ample tables (a dozen including booths) at which to sit. Also has tables for 6 or more. Ordered pan fried dumplings and kung pao chicken. Both were excellent. Dumplings were well prepared and excellent. I will come back to try more items in the menu which looks very interesting!

Great restaurant that serves both authentic and classical American Chinese food. The service is incredible, so is the taste of the food is on point. Will visit again.

My favorite Chinese food in DC area. I grew up in China. Whenever I have cravings, I think of China Jade. I’ve gotten its la zi ji ding (辣子鸡丁）countless times to go and definitely dining in is even better. I tried hong you chao shou (红油抄手) to go and instantly fell in love and came back for another the next day to dine in. The hongshaoniunan mian （红烧牛腩面) is good without tasting like MSG (too many Chinese places in the area taste like MSG but not China Jade). My tongue can tell China Jade uses good ingredients. The portion size is also big. Good job keeping prices lower while still using quality, authentic ingredients and flavors, especially when economic inflation is so high right now

A lucky find! I was driving around the area and looking for somewhere to get lunch when I noticed the sign. I decided to go in and try it — thanks for recommending a delicious triple delight! Very good tea too. Hope to see you again next time I’m in the area.

I just had the best Crisp Beef Szechuan in my entire life .....Really nice people and delicious food. I'll come back for sure.... Happy Costumer
